L.S. Dunes - Violet

While it can be a divisive moniker, L.S. Dunes is a recent "supergroup" of guitarist Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), guitarist Travis Stever (Coheed and Cambria), vocalist Anthony Green (Circa Survive), bassist Tim Payne (Thursday), and drummer Tucker Rule (Thursday).

I was a fan of their debut full-length 'Past Lives' in 2022 (especially the opening track "2022" and "Bombsquad"), and am looking forward to / telling anyone not in the know about their soon to release new full-length 'Violet' on January 31st.

Mostly wanted to highlight this release because Anthony Green has been on a prolific output-resurgence the past few years, releasing a myriad of work under multiple projects/solo, including probably my favorite of the bunch with his again-collaboration with The Sound of Animals Fighting's 'Apeshit' in 2022.  All that to say -- he is my main draw to this project; I've sometimes teeter-tottered on albums/bands/solo work Green is associated with, but undeniably his voice and delivery is a unique cornerstone in multiple genres and at the least is always worth checking out.  Plus the entire band seems to have a solid chemistry that hopefully keeps the collab rolling.

Adrift - Dry Soil

Spain's Adrift (formerly stylized 'adrift') are back on the 31st of January with their first full-length album since 'Pure' in 2019.  "Concrete" is the only track available for preview (below) from the soon-releasing 'Dry Soil', but it & their back catalog alone was enough to get me pre-ordering the vinyl/digital release.  Considering the last thing these guys released was compilation tracks a few years ago, I'm glad to see they're still rocking and putting out new full-length albums.

GOROD - The Orb

Progressive Death Metal from Bordeaux, France.  GOROD (formerly 'Gorod' & 'Goregasm') released their latest album ('The Orb') in March of 2023, after a brief lapse since 2018.  Just thought I would give a quick shout-out for this album, not much else to say aside they've been one of my favorites in the genre since their inception (late 90's/early 2000's for their first studio release).  GOROD just explores some avenues of DM that many don't, from occasional clean vocals to more experimental songwriting, and a strong yin/yang of technical bombast with brightness to the darkest dungeon.  As far as I can tell this was only released digitally and on CD.

Writhing Squares - Mythology

Just a heads-up on an upcoming release from Writhing Squares; 'Mythology' comes out on April 26th.  Excited to see where this duo goes next, following their last double-album 'Chart For The Solution'.  The track "Barbarians" is available to check out now.

Azat - Cycle Time

Was perusing my bandcamp 'following' section and realized Azat released a new track, "Cycle Time", his first release since 2017.  Thought I'd re-emerge from the internet depths to spread the word.  His entire discography is on sale for 25% off (I think it was ~$35)...a pretty good deal considering the amount of releases (around 5 of them are basically full lengths).

Good sign to come, show some support at his bandcamp if able (all his releases are digital).
